A recent survey was released by the Plan Sponsor Council of America regarding 403(b) plans tax deferred defined-contribution plans for public education providers, non-profits, and some religious institutions.  Evaluating 2012 plan data from 573 not-for-profit organizations, the survey found

  • 30% of 403(b) plans permit immediate eligibility for matching contributions
  • An average of 66% of eligible employees made contributions to their 403(b) plan
  • Nearly 83% of plan sponsors made contributions to the plan
  • Plans offered an average 31 investment funds to participants
  • Approx. 25% offer investment advice
  • 69% allow loans
  • 50.2% had a CPA audit in 2012
